At Mandala Agrifresh, we’ve spent the past four years working alongside more than 3,000 farmers across Nepal to reduce food loss and waste. We’ve done this by introducing simple, affordable post-harvest technologies that keep fruits and vegetables fresh longer—giving farmers a fair chance at market access and minimizing unnecessary losses. But despite these efforts, one truth remained: There is no market for fruits that don’t look “perfect,” no matter how nutritious they are. Every year in Nepal, tons of perfectly edible fruits—apples with blemishes, early-ripening kiwis, strawberries that are too small—are rejected by retailers and consumers for not meeting cosmetic standards. These fruits, grown with care by smallholder farmers, are left to rot. The result?

So, we decided to do something about it. We took a bold step into food processing—launching Mandala’s Fruit-Based Spreads and Purees, crafted from cosmetically imperfect but nutritionally perfect fruits.

Our first products—kiwi and strawberry spreads—are more than just a delicious addition to your pantry. They represent innovation, resilience, and a smarter food future. Unlike traditional jams that contain up to 65% sugar and minimal fruit, our spreads are technically crafted, with a focus on health and innovation They contain 50–52% total sugars and significantly higher real fruit content—almost double what is commonly found in the market. We’ve created a low-sugar, high-fruit alternative that’s not only delicious but also supports a circular food economy—turning overlooked  fruit into something delicious and valuable.
